Help Magic Strings youths to represent Estonia at international music festivalsUser's  Heidy Kiviloo project in the category Cultural ambassadors

Greetings, big and small, distant and close music lovers!

Here we are – Magic Strings violinists, waiting for your assistance to be able to realize our dreams.

Our desire is to attend International Festivals in Italy and France, specifically the Provencal Festival of Youth Orchestras, the International Festival of Youth Orchestras in Florence and the Cremona Summer Festival. We applied, competed and to our pleasant surpise were selected to perform. We consider this a unique opportunity, responsibility and great honour!

We will perform at 8 different concert venues, Concert Halls, Churches and Open Air Outdoor stages. At the end of July 2019 (20.07-01.08) we will have an opportunity during 12 days to perform every evening for two hours where we give our best as soloists, a trio and as an ensemble.

We are the Tallinn Old Town Education Collegium Music School students who are taught by Tereza Šmerling. We became the Magic Strings Ensemble in 2012. Today we number 26. The youngest among us are two year olds Astrid and August and the oldest are fifteen years of age. We have one concert group for younger students and another for older, with a trio which plays more advanced and sophisticated music.

Our year round dedication to practicing and playing in classes and locally culminates with this unique opportunty to test ourselves at International Festivals and competitions. Daily practices and performances on local stages prepare us for realizing higher goals. Some among us will prepare through this for other competitions where we have thus far had considerable success. We have particpated in competitions in Estonia (Young Instrumentalist 2016, 2018), in Finland (international competition JSFest 2018 dedicated to J. Sibelius in 2018) and in Russia (Moscow Gnessin Intenational String instruments competition 2019), where we had the pleasure of winning both as  soloists and as an ensemble.

Our families consist mostly of 3-5 children and in some families all the children play instruments. For family unity it is important to make sure that none of the fifteen students will be left behind without music pleasure this Summer due to financial constraints. No contribution is too small as it gives puts more wind in the sails of our dreams.

We cannot depend only on the donations of others. We will be conducting during the Sprng and Summer of this year fundraising events, such as charity pop-up caffees, charity auctions and street performances. This will be our after school contribution which hopefully will help forward the cause.

The medley-performances have always been well received by the public. We have amassed 14 and ask you to watch and listen one of. In the Summer of last year we made a video on Vormsi Island of Estonian Film-music This Summer we hope to add to this by filming additional segments in Italy and France. Four medleys will be filmed in Venice and Provence.

Our Activities.

Every jewel becomes more attractive and valuable with polishing and so it is with our work which can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/VolukeeledMagicStrings/ and https://talendipesa.weebly.com/

We have as part of our appearances in Estonia a Concert Tour „Me Too“ and a Disney Film Music Concert „Beyond Seven Mountains and Seas”, a Telia Mothers Day Concert at City Hall Square and Estonian Television charity program „Christmas channel“. We performed over seventy times last year and this includes at Senior Citizen Homes and Hospitals.

Our performancess are not limited to Estonia as we have had the fortune to perform in concerts at Albert Hall in London UK and Lincoln Centre’ in New York, USA to name a few.

We have done well and have been nicely cared for. We have offered joy and pleasure and in return received praise and warmly received everywhere.

Please contribute to enabling us to share our music, which comes from our hearts. We promise to perform with excellence at the Italian and French Festivals making our Ensemble, our School, Tallinn City and all Estonians proud.

Thank You!
