Let's develop Café Brasil together!User's  Café Brasil OÜ project in the category Söök ja jook

We are Maris, Sáskia and Thiago, whose common love for Brazilian food, music and culture led us to the desire to open the first Brazilian-inspired café and shop in Tallinn - our Café Brasil

The main mission of Café Brasil is to bring a piece of tropical Brazil to Estonia introducing Brazilian culture through the products sold in our shop, our café menu and our special atmosphere. Our café is designed for both Estonians and foreigners living in Estonia who have an interest in Brazilian culture and food. Unlike other cafés, our product range allows us to bring something exclusive to our customers in Estonia.

At the moment we are working in “pilot mode” at Volta 32, Kalamaja, where you can find our amazing products, try our delicious food and drinks and meet our lovely staff. In the future, we plan to host regular Saturday events, invite Brazilian artists to perform at the café, conduct various workshops (e.g. about making cocktails or sweets) and roast fresh Brazilian coffee beans on site in our café so that customers can get as fresh coffee as possible. Also, we would like to become a place, which people could rent to organize birthdays, social evenings and other gatherings.

We offer many well-known Brazilian dishes on our menu, which many in Estonia have not yet tried, and we want to invite you all to try them in order to be a part of this new experience.

Our MUST-try list is:

  • Brigadeiros:

Brigadeiro (translated as ‘brigadier’) is the most popular and beloved sweet in Brazil, which many people in other parts of the world have never tried. Brigadeiro is made from condensed milk, butter and cocoa. These handmade sweets are deliciously soft and creamy. No event in Brazil is without brigadeiros. All our Brigadeiros are made freshly, with great care and love.

  • Caipirinha:

The Caipirinha, pronounced as ‘Kai-Pur-reen-Yah’ and translated as ‘little countryside drink’, is made by muddling green lemons which are native to Brazil and mixing them with sugar and cachaça (the most popular distilled alcoholic spirit  in Brazil, made from fermented sugarcane juice).

  • Samba Coffee:

The only Brazilian coffee produced by Brazilians in Tallinn. Naturally processed coffee. Grown and Harvested in Brazil. Freshly roasted in Tallinn - Estonia

And of course don’t forget famous cheese bread (pão de queijo), mini burgers, pastries, salads, açai berry bowls and many more interesting dishes!

Meet our team:

Maris has sales experience in various fields. She has worked as a customer service representative in various cafes and has also gone to the USA to sell door-to-door books. She has lived in Brazil as an exchange student, thus learning about their culture. She has a bachelor's degree in economics and in 2019 she also founded the Brazilian confectionery company Brigadeiros OÜ. Maris also works at the Brazilian Embassy, speaks Portuguese and loves to keep in touch with the Brazilian community.

Sáskia and Thiago are a Brazilian couple living in Tallinn (Estonia) since 2017. Quite a change in the life of someone who was only used to the tropical temperatures of Brazil! But they believe in movements and in the true exchange of experiences that lead them to learn to be part of the world and connected to people. Borders for them are restricted to maps, in real life they like to mix knowledge, people, contacts and lots of ideas. They are the creators of the Brazilian Day in Estonia festival and since 2019 they have been working with Brazilian products in Tallinn.

All of us are very hardworking and entrepreneurial people who are ready and very motivated to contribute all their time to the promotion and development of Café Brasil. This activity is very close to our hearts and we have gained experience in this field in different ways over the years.

Our financial goals:

We started on the 8th of July of 2022 and so far we have managed to serve around 500 guests, but this number could be higher if our operating capacity is increased. We even had to limit the maximum number of seats due to electrical and heating/ventilation constraints. We rented the space on an open-ended lease: the owner supported our project from the beginning, helping us with the renovation, which we financed ourselves. And now we need your help to run at full capacity!

  • Initial 5 000 euros: In this first stage, we need to increase our electricity capacity so that it will be possible to turn on all our equipment. Who has visited us already has probably seen the power failure a couple of times, since the electrical panel is tired and over worked. With more electricity, we could offer the entire menu and have less waiting time for orders, in addition to being able to turn on our dishwasher. We are washing all the dishes manually at the moment.
  • Additional 12 500 euros: Our next goal is to have a proper ventilation system. As we are in the basement of the building we have to build a modern ventilation system, so everyone can feel more comfortable inside and we can offer better work conditions to our work angels.
  • Additional 2 000 euros: In order to keep our place open during winter and keep our place cozy for everyone we want to install a heating system which is allowed in the building.
  • Additional 3 000 euros: It is not a Brazilian place if we don’t have a terrace. We want to renovate the building terrace next to our door, so we could offer a nice place to sit during next summer, where everyone can have a caipirinha or Mate tea and enjoy sunny days.

Help us build this piece of Brazil in Tallinn!

We welcome everyone to be part of this dream and ask you to support our journey.
