My name is Peter Kaldar. I used to be an ordinary engineer from Riga, a city where life flowed peacefully—until everything fell apart. Ever since the superstorm tore through the sky, the average summer temperature barely reaches 14 degrees, and in winter, we survive by burning fires.

But today, I found hope. A radio receiver I pieced together from old parts picked up a strange signal. In clear Estonian, a voice said, "Tallinn still breathes. It’s warm here. We have water, fish, and shelter." How is that possible? Why is it warm there? There are no answers, only questions. But I have no choice—I need to find the truth.

I’m setting off on my old moped, carrying an Estonian road map, a few cans of food, an old Mosin rifle, and a couple of batteries—who knows when they might come in handy. Summer is the best time for travel; the nights are still cold, but bearable. I can take shelter in ruins along the way.
