Publication of the book "Moon Swing", which is dedicated to menstruationUser's  Kristina Ude project in the category Print

MISSION

Our big mission which comes from the heart is that every girl and woman would understand their body, it's rhythmical nature and thanks to that live a fulfilling life that swings their souls! Ideally, the book would reach girls before they start menstruating, because then they can already have an idea of the power they carry within themselves. At the same time, everyone else who feels drawn into the deeper layers of being a woman is invited to the book. Everyone who wants to understand what happens monthly in the body and psyche of their daughter, mother, partner, husband or girlfriend could benefit from that. Above all, of course, I would recommend the book to those who are a little afraid of the topic of blood.

As a small addition to the main mission, the authors also wish that menstruation, as an extremely important topic and a grand initiation rite, would be more visible and discussed in public and evryday life.

ABOUT THE BOOK

The unique book Moon Swing is a large-format (24x28cm), with a burgundy red velvet back, a wonderful book for both young and older readers! The book's 130 magnioficent and delightful pages are printed on ethically produced natural paper and every step in the creation of the work is in balance with the well-being of Mother Nature. For example, the authors, together with their friends and family, planted 2000 trees in Estonia on Mother's Day this year.

The illustrations are watercolor paintings and the text is written by hand. The writing style of the work is mythopoetic and the chapters invite the reader to a rare journey through which the art of being a woman can be discovered and understood. The language of the book is simple and understandable to everyone. As a small extra contribution you can learn all kinds of new and forgotten words from the book, since the author is an Estonian language teacher.

The book creatively and engagingly talks about the history of women, the anatomy of the female pelvis and the brain, the different phases of menstruation, their connections with the rhythms of nature and what to do when one day the bleeding actually starts. The art of words is accompanied by particularly deep and mythical-mystical images, which help to open the layers of the text more powerfully and make reading the book an aesthetic and enchanting experience. The illustrations hide many symbols, so you can find something completely new every time you open the book. The book is definitely a wonderful gift idea that will bring joy for several generations.

The beginning of the idea of creating the book is the last lines of "Faust" by J. W. Goethe

All of the transient,
Is parable, only
The insufficient,
Here, grows to reality:
The indescribable,
Here, is done:
Woman, eternal,
Beckons us on.

And the book, in all its grandeur and glory, wants to empower girls and women to feel proud of who they are!

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

The book was born from the years of friendship between the two creatrixes, Kristina Ude and Triin Lees. The author of the text, Kristina, and the illustrator, Triin, are women who have been fascinated by myths, runo songs, symbols, fairy tales, indigenous peoples, plant wisdom and above all, the mystique of being a woman since childhood.

Kristina has worked as a teacher of Estonian language and literature for 15 years and an interesting dimension to her experience is that she has taught from pre-school to master's degree and for the last 9 years she has been a school teacher abroad. All this together has allowed her to see the education system with a special depth and has given her the opportunity to feel the nuances of the Estonian language at very different levels. As a teacher, Kristina has always been more attracted to those topics that are outside the curriculum - child brain development, microbiome, emotional intelligence, somatic healing practices and creativity-creativity-creativity with its thousand faces.

At heart, she is a nomad - whenever she has a free opportunity, she spends time in the depths of deserts or jungles, and her heart sings when she experiences the vibrations of the different peoples of the world around her and thus understands more powerfully the secrets of being human.

Triin loves locality and is more settled in character. She is a literary researcher by education, fascinated by wandering in the worlds of words and her days are embroidered with painting, writing, crafts and collage art. She has published book reviews both in the newspaper Sirp and in the magazine Eesti Loodus. There are also several art exhibitions in Triinu's pearl necklace of experiences. For 11 years in a row, Triin has presented special attention-grabbing presentations at the original children's literature days of the Tartu O. Luts City Library. In her free moments, she gathers strength and power in the woods.
