The Female Alumnae Choir of Tallinn University of Technology was born in 1983 when a group of former members of the Academic Female Choir of TUT decided to continue singing and persuaded their former conductor Silvia Mellik to lead them. Today the choir consists of 40 brighteyed singers of various professions. They are conducted by Andres Heinapuu (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) and Tiina Selke (Tallinn University). For the wonderful sound of the choir we thank our voice placing teacher Maila Plooman.  

 

We contribute actively to Estonian choral life by giving every year several concerts both in Tallinn and in the coutryside. We were the choir of the year of  Estonian Female Singing Society in 2006. We take part in cultural integration projects "Hrustalnõi klutš" and "Music Bridges". In 2015 we came third in our category at the female choir competition held by Estonian Female Singing Society.

 

To introduce Estonian choral music and culture we wish to take opportunities to participate also in choir festivals abroad. Last year we participated in Cork International Choral Festival in Ireland.

 

This year our choir was invited to join the international choir festival Sing'n'Joy Provo 2016 on 16th-20th of March near Salt Lake City, USA.

Since the whole choir has never before traveled overseas, this festival would give us an unique opprtunity to introduce Estonian choral music and culture in North America. Such travelling however comes quite expensive (plane tickets, local tranport, accommodation). To be able to join the festival in the required capacity we asked "Hooandja" for assistance.

All supporters  will be invited to our spring concert on April 21st, 2016 in Tallinn. Our gifts to you include choir's CDs and DVDs and handicraft items made by our singers. These gift will be distributed at the concert of by postage. On agreement we are happy willing to come and sing at your party.
